Scents of Self
Our senses help us step out of our mind and into our body. They shift us out of autopilot. They wake us deeper to ourselves and our environments. When it comes to scent, I’ve always depended on my sense of smell as a compass and way to register my surroundings, which often requires me to slow down and immerse myself.
What am I attracted to? Am I safe? What emotion is coming up? Where is this transporting me?
Scent is deeply personal; with one inhale a flood of memories might be brought to the forefront that otherwise may be trapped in time.
When it comes to how we formulate, I see fragrance (like most things) as an experiment. A process of trusting yourself and your senses to explore nuances, being open to trying new things, and sometimes daring to ‘go there.’ In the process asking, What is the story? What is the feeling? What does this look like? Sound like?
Our nuanced scents are continuously evolving and expanding with our noses (which, in fact, are like a muscle – strengthening with more use).
I hope you find a scent to spark a new memory with, and if you need some guidance making a selection, send us a message. We’re always here to help you discover your scents of self.
